Iran extends greetings on Parkash Purab
The Embassy of Iran in India conveyed warm wishes to the people of India and the Sikh community on the auspicious occasion of the Parkash Purab of Guru Granth Sahib.
In its message, the embassy highlighted the deep cultural and spiritual resonance between India and Iran, noting that Sikh scripture contains verses in Persian, symbolising a shared heritage of dialogue and harmony.
To mark the occasion, the embassy honoured the memory of Sikh Guru Nanak Dev by reciting a Persian shabad from Page 721 of Raag Tilang.
The message, posted on the embassy’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, stated:
“On the auspicious occasion of the Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, we extend our greetings to the great nation of India and the Sikh community in particular, and recite honorably the famous Persian shabad of Guru Nanak Ji.”
Diplomatic observers note that this gesture reflects not only respect for Sikh traditions, but also the enduring cultural links between India and Iran, where Persian once served as a language of scholarship and spirituality in South Asia.
