Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi is on track and will visit India tomorrow (May 8). His visit to India becomes the first from a foreign dignitary post “Operation Sindoor”.

Araghchi earlier concluded his Pakistan visit on Tuesday this week. His visit assumes significance amidst the heightened tensions between the two neighbouring countries following the Pahalgam terror attack.

Three days after the dastardly attack, Iran on April 25 had help in restoring India-Pakistan relations, while Iranian FM Araghchi quoting lines from Persian poet ‘Saadi’ had said, “Tehran stands ready to use its good offices in Islamabad and New Delhi to ‘forge greater understanding at this difficult time’”.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in an official communiqué confirmed Araghchi’s visit, stating that he is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar during his one day visit to India. Araghchi held a meeting with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir.
