Jaishankar to visit UK, Ireland to boost ties

India and the UK are engaged in negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and Jaishankar’s visit is expected to set the tone for future bilateral ties. The two nations share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which has expanded across key sectors, including defence, security, trade, economy, health, education and people-to-people exchanges.

During his stay in the UK, Jaishankar will hold discussions with his British counterpart, Foreign Secretary David Lammy and meet several other dignitaries and members of the Indian community.

In Ireland, where he will visit from March 6 to 7, Jaishankar will engage with his Irish counterpart, Simon Harris, as well as other dignitaries and members of the Indian diaspora. India and Ireland enjoy friendly bilateral relations, rooted in shared democratic values, cultural ties and increasing economic cooperation.
