A week after a portion of a military camp at Chhaten in North Sikkim was wiped out in a landslide, rescue teams have recovered a body of an Army jawan, who was among the six Army personnel missing since June 1.Officials said the search teams had recovered the body of Sainudheen PK, while efforts were on to look for other five missing persons -- Lt Col Pritpal Sandhu, his wife Sqn Leader Arati B Sandhu (retd), their daughter Amaira Sandhu, Subedar Dharamveer and Sepoy Sunilal Muchahary.

Triggered by heavy rainfall, a landslide had occurred at 7 pm on June 1 near Lachen town in Mangan district.

Three persons -- Havildar Lakhwinder Singh, Lance Naik Munish Thakur, who belonged to Sirmaur in Himachal Pradesh, and Porter Abhishek Lakhada -- had died at the spot. Four Army personnel suffered minor injuries and were rescued on June 1.

The entire mountain on which the military camp was located was ravaged. Photographs shared by the Army showed the devastation, with a portion of the camp being wiped out by the landslide.
