Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah seeks Prez nod for pending Bills

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday called on President Droupadi Murmu to seek her assent for seven bills passed by the state legislature but pending for her approval.

The pending bills include The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2025, which seeks to modify the existing RTE framework in the state; The Karnataka (Mineral Rights and Mineral Bearing Land) Tax Bill, 2024, to expand state's revenue from mineral resources; Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement (Amendment) Act, 2025, for greater accountability in government purchases; The Registration (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2024, and a 2025 version of the Bill; The Notaries (Karnataka Amendment) Bill, 2025, for streamlining administrative processes.

Other pending bills are The Karnataka Hindi Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowment (Amendment) 2024.

With the range of bills pending Presidential approval spanning sectors of education, mining, taxation, public procurement and administrative reforms, the CM urged the President for clearance.

These bills require the President's assent as they fall under provisions that mandate Centre's approval before implementation in the state.
