Karpoori Thakur never promoted dynastic politics, says Dhankhar on ex-Bihar CM’s birth anniv
Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday stated that Bihar’s former Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur was a messiah of social justice, who opened vast opportunities for a large population by implementing reservation.
He said this while addressing an event held on the 101st birth anniversary of Thakur in Bihar’s Samastipur city.
Dhankhar said, “The great son of India, Karpoori Thakur was a messiah of social justice. In a short span of time, he wrote a new history of social and political transformation.”
“He broke centuries-old shackles and opened the doors of immense possibilities for a large population. He was a great man who started a new era of equality. He dedicated his life to those on the margins of society, who were ignored by all.”
Dhankhar further said that Thakur never promoted dynastic politics. “He was a national leader, who rose above caste, religion and class, focusing on equality and promoting development. He left a distinct mark on the country by advancing social justice.”
“He completed his college education in a difficult and challenging environment. Thakur never accumulated any wealth, but dedicated his entire life to the public instead,” he said.
Calling Thakur a statesman, Dhankhar said, “He implemented reservation without caring about the Opposition. He even ended the compulsion of English and promoted the use of Hindi in government offices. He faced ridicule for it, but now, we realise how farsighted he was. He was the first Chief Minister in the country to focus on education. He was also the first to make school-level education free up to the matriculation level.”
