Amid the ongoing war over languages — Tamil versus Hindi in Tamil Nadu and Marathi versus Hindi in Maharashtra— the ruling BJP on Thursday got an opportunity to hit out at the Congress for misspelling the word “loktantra” (democracy) in their protest posters.

As soon as images went viral showing MPs from the opposition bloc holding a large placard that read “loktantar,” BJP leaders were quick to respond, pointing out the spelling error.

“Loktantra hota hai loktantar nahi,” wrote BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya in a post on X.
