The Lok Sabha will take up discussion on the Union Budget from February 7 onwards, which will continue till February 10, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman expected to reply to the discussion on February 11.

On behalf of the Congress, its Patiala MP Dharamvira Gandhi will initiate the discussion on the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha, while other Congress members like Benny Behanan and Jothimani will also speak on behalf of the largest opposition party.

The decision to initiate discussion on the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha was finalised during the meeting of the business advisory committee (BAC) of the Lower House, which took place on Thursday.

Sources informed that though some sections of the Congress MPs were in favour of continuing with the protests on the issue of deportation of Indians from the US, another section was of the opinion that the matter should be raised during the course of discussion on the Union Budget.

With February 12 being a holiday on account of Ravidas Jayanti, on February 13, the government may try and get the Tribhuvan University Bill, which was introduced earlier this week in Lok Sabha, passed.
