Man dies after drinking 5 bottles of alcohol neat to win Rs 10,000 bet with friends

A 21-year-old man from Karnataka allegedly died after drinking five bottles of liquor to win a Rs 10,000 bet with his friends. The incident happened in the Kolar district.

Karthik had claimed he could drink all five bottles without mixing water. His friend Venkata Reddy promised to give him Rs 10,000 if he did it, reports NDTV. After drinking the liquor, Karthik fell seriously ill and was taken to a hospital in Mulbagal. He died during treatment.

Karthik had been married for just a year, and his wife had given birth to their baby only eight days before he passed away.

Police at Nangali station have filed a case against six people, including Venkata Reddy and Subramani. Both have been arrested, and police are searching for the others.

As per the World Health Organization (WHO), alcohol is very dangerous and causes around 2.6 million deaths every year. Experts say there is no safe amount of alcohol to drink. Even a small amount can harm your health.
