Wakeel Hassan, the rat-hole miner who illegally constructed a house on government land, which was demolished by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on February 28, has declined yet another offer of accommodation. This time, the offer came in the form of a DDA flat in Dilshad Garden. The decision to provide Hassan with alternative accommodation stemmed from his role in the rescue campaign for labourers trapped in the Silkway-Barkot tunnel in Uttarakhand. Delhi L-G VK Saxena, upon learning of Hassan’s involvement, specifically instructed the DDA to provide him with free alternative accommodation.
