Days after announcing a restructuring of the National Testing Agency (NTA), the Union government has appointed Sandip Kumar Mishra as the agency’s new director. Mishra, who will serve a five-year term, replaces Pradeep Singh Kharola.

Archana Shukla, Amit Kumar, and Shivani have been appointed as joint directors for a four-year term.

Mishra, an alumnus of JNU, was previously serving as the Joint Commissioner of Income Tax. In a government notification, it was confirmed that Mishra, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer from the 2007 batch, was selected for the position under the central staffing scheme. He will assume the role for a period of five years, or until further orders.

Following paper leak in NEET-UG examinations in June this year, the Central government had appointed Kharola after removing Subodh Kumar Singh to lead NTA.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
