New Delhi, July 16

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) today added another 346 spare parts, items and sub-assemblies to the import ban list, implying these will have to be sourced from Indian vendors.

The MoD said it had “notified the fifth list of items that cannot be imported”. Four previous lists had banned the import of 4,666 items. The fifth list will result in Rs 1,048 crore worth of orders being placed with defence public sector undertakings and the domestic market.
