MoD inks pact for 14 fast patrol vessels for Indian Coast Guard
New Delhi, January 24
The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract with Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL), Mumbai, for the acquisition of 14 fast patrol vessels (FPVs) for the Indian Coast Guard at a cost of Rs 1,070 crore.
The multi-role FPVs will be indigenously designed, developed and manufactured by the MDL and are targeted to be delivered in 63 months.
The vessels will play a critical role in enhancing the fisheries protection and monitoring, control and surveillance, anti-smuggling operations, search and rescue operations, assistance to ship in distress and towing capabilities.
