The Ministry of Defence has okayed another round of emergency procurement of military equipment worth Rs 48,000 crore. The approval was granted by the Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, at a recent meeting. Sources said the DAC had met prior to the May 7 strikes under Operation Sindoor. The focus is on buying equipment such as surveillance and kamikaze drones, ammo for artillery, and air defence.
