Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday unveiled development projects worth Rs 5,100 crore in Arunachal Pradesh attacking the erstwhile Congress regimes for ignoring the state because it had only two Lok Sabha seats.

“The Congress had this habit of never taking up, abandoning, development work which was difficult to accomplish. This habit of Congress caused significant harm to Arunachal Pradesh and the North-East. The Congress would declare the regions as backward and forget the hilly and forested areas, where development work was hard to undertake. Areas once considered impossible to reach are now witnessing roads with modern highways,” he said referring to the Sela tunnel as well as the new Hollongi airport which directly connects Delhi.

Describing the North-East a driving force behind the nation’s development, Modi said the success of the Vibrant Village Programme here had made people’s lives easier.

All traders who interacted with the PM mentioned the reduced rates due to the GST cuts that came into operation today. Calling northeast the Ashtalakshmi of India, Modi said the region could not be left behind in the journey of development. Later in Tripura, the PM unveiled the redeveloped Tripureshwari Temple at Gomti.
