Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday claimed that 10 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure had transformed the country, “which will force even his harshest critics to acknowledge his contribution whenever the nation’s history is written”.

Addressing a gathering during the launch of a book titled, “Indian Renaissance: The Modi Decade”, Shah emphasised that India’s history could be categorised into three significant periods. “First is before and after the Independence. Second before and after the Emergency and the third before and after Narendra Modi,” he said.

The Home Minister pointed out that Modi’s leadership has marked a turning point in the nation’s progress, setting the foundation for a “Viksit Bharat”.

Shah praised India’s response to Covid, saying, “No one thought India could face the pandemic like it did.” He credited PM Modi’s vision, stating, “We made the vaccine first because the process to make it started first in India.”

He also highlighted how Modi’s leadership united the nation during the crisis, stating, “He made an appeal for lockdown and every Indian supported his decision.”

He pointed at changes in Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. “Two crore 80 lakh tourists visited Kashmir after that,” he revealed. He credited Modi’s governance for making every Indian a stakeholder in the country’s growth. “If 130 crore Indians move ahead, India takes 130 steps ahead. This is what PM Modi realised,” Shah concluded.
