"Since the PM going to be in Madhya Pradesh on May 31, where he will be holding a mega ‘sammelan’ , we urge him to ensure the safety of his ‘sisters’ here. Fast track courts should be formed to duly punish the perpetrators," senior Congress leader Dr Vikrant Bhuria, who heads the Party's Adivasi Wing said.

The victim was allegedly gangraped, tortured and left to die in Khandwa. The incident is said to have taken place sometime on Saturday afternoon in the Roshni Chowki area under the tribal zone Khalwa. The victim was the mother of two children.

Providing details of the gruesome rape-murder, Congress leader Dr Bhuria termed it as "adivasi Nirbhaya gangrape".

He claimed that these kinds of crimes are ‘rampant’ in Madhya Pradesh. Targeting MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Dr Bhuria said that since the formation of BJP government in the state, there has been an 18% increase in the crime rate. He also threatened to launch a statewide stir in case justice is not served to the victim's family.

Dr Bhuria also held "alcohol mafia" responsible for the rise in crimes in tribal belts of the state.
