Senior diplomat Nagma Mohamed Mallick was on Thursday appointed as India’s ambassador to Japan.

The 1991-batch Indian Foreign Service officer is currently serving as India’s ambassador to Poland.

She is expected to take up the assignment shortly, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

Mallick succeeds Sibi George as India’s envoy to Japan.

George recently took charge as secretary (west) in the MEA’s headquarters in New Delhi.
