The National Lok Adalat scheduled to be held on May 10 in the Punjab and Haryana High Court stands deferred. The decision follows an official communication received from the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), New Delhi. The new date is yet to be announced for the rescheduled Lok Adalat.

The postponement comes at a time of heightened security and tension along the international border, raising concerns over large public gatherings in the court premises. The Lok Adalat, part of a nationwide initiative, was expected to facilitate quick, cost-effective dispute resolution in a range of cases, including traffic challans, property matters, electricity bill disputes, motor accident claims, and family issues excluding divorce.

The event typically draws significant participation from litigants seeking to avoid prolonged court battles.

The Lok Adalats, conducted under the aegis of NALSA, are known for offering an accessible platform for dispute resolution without the rigours of formal litigation.
