No info on NSA-level talks with Pak: Misri
India on Thursday denied having any information about talks being held between National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval and his Pakistani counterpart Lt General Asim Malik.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, while replying to a question during a special briefing on Operation Sindoor, stated, “I have no information with regard to contacts between the two National Security Advisers.”
The briefing was conducted to share details of India's response to Pakistan's attempt to target 15 military installations in Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj using drones and missiles. The armed forces retaliated by targeting air defence radars at multiple locations in Pakistan, destroying the system in Lahore.
On diplomatic relations, Misri said no further steps were under consideration. “So far as diplomatic relations are concerned, you can see the steps that were announced following the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security on April 23. There are no further steps under consideration at this point in time,” he said.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had claimed that their NSA was in touch with Doval.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level security meeting with NSA Doval and Home Secretary Govind Mohan to review the situation following the launch of Operation Sindoor. Sources indicated that Modi was briefed on Pakistan’s ceasefire violations in retaliation and India’s countermeasures. The PM also assessed heightened security measures in border areas, potential spikes in terrorist activity and risks of further escalation.
