New Delhi, July 29

The government on Monday informed Parliament that there was no dearth of jobs in the country and there was nothing to worry about, while waiving concerns that Artificial Intelligence (AI) would eat up jobs in the coming future.

Replying to a question by Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee, who said, while citing data, that around 69 per cent of people in India would lose employment during the tenure of the NDA dispensation due to the emergence of AI, Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said it was only an estimation, and with the economy growing at the rate of 6 per cent to 7 per cent, things were looking up on the employment front.

“There is nothing to worry about, this is only an estimation, economy is growing by 6 to 7 per cent, and with such growth, manufacturing rises and service sector grows and purchasing power goes up. Employment opportunities also rise, therefore there is nothing to worry about. If you see the national service centre portal, 19 lakh jobs are available on it, there are jobs for all. There is no dearth of jobs in the country,” he claimed.
