New Delhi, February 27
On his Tuesday visit to Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a massive outreach to the voters asking them to trust the BJP, having placed their faith previously in the Congress and Left in Kerala and the regional players in Tamil Nadu.
The ruling BJP does not have a single Lok Sabha seat in Tamil Nadu and Kerala, which together send 59 MPs to the lower house (39 TN and 20 Kerala).
In Kerala, the PM attacked the ruling Left Democratic Front government and the opposition Congress-led UDF saying, “The Congress and communists are foes in Kerala and best friends forever elsewhere.”
In both states, the PM said, the BJP had never treated any state as its vote bank.
“Tamil Nadu received more central funds in the last decade under his party’s rule,” he said in a rebuttal to the ruling DMK’s refrain that the state was discriminated against during devolution of funds.
The Prime Minister also said the opposition INDIA bloc had conceded defeat.
Addressing the conclusion of BJP Kerala chief K Surendran’s ‘padayatra’ at Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, PM Modi said the opposition lacked a roadmap for nation’s progress.
“Opposition knows it will not win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, which is why they keep abusing me,” PM Modi said.
In Tamil Nadu, he said the “mega opposition bloc INDIA has conceded defeat”.
