Outreach delegations to brief PM Modi after return
The seven multi-party delegations tasked with visiting 33 global capitals as part of India's diplomatic outreach following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam continue to deliver a powerful message against terrorism and expose Pakistan on a global platform.
While several delegations are still on tour, some have begun concluding their visits. Once all the MPs return, they are likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 9–10 to brief him on their outreach efforts and the reactions received from the global community.
Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, who is leading a nine-member all-party Indian Parliamentary Delegation on a diplomatic tour of six European nations — France, Italy, Denmark, England, Belgium, and Germany — has projected India as a strong, democratic, and determined nation committed to global cooperation, rooted in its civilizational values, and unyielding in its fight against terrorism.
In London, the delegation began its visit by paying floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Tavistock Square Garden — a symbolic gesture reflecting India’s legacy of peace, non-violence, and justice. In a major engagement at India House in London, attended by thousands of members of the Indian diaspora, Prasad showcased India’s unity and resolve in the face of terrorism.
He said India’s counter-operation, codenamed Operation Sindoor, was a necessary and firm response to eliminate Pakistan-backed terror camps. "India stands for peace, but if terrorists shed the blood of innocents, they will be held accountable," Prasad declared, adding that when terrorism is aided by state actors — as in Pakistan — it must be treated as war. The delegation will continue its European outreach until June 7.
Congress leader Shashi Tharoor led a nine-member delegation of MPs to Brazil on June 1, where they met senior functionaries of the Brazilian government. According to officials, the delegation conveyed India’s strong national consensus and resolute stance in the fight against terrorism, as well as its zero-tolerance policy toward cross-border terrorism.
In Madrid, Spain, the all-party Parliamentary delegation led by DMK MP Kanimozhi engaged with members of the Spanish government, parliamentarians, and civil society representatives on Monday. Spanish leaders were briefed on Operation Sindoor.
The delegation also met with the Association of Victims of Terrorism in Madrid and engaged in a heartfelt exchange on the pain and resilience that emerge from such traumatic events. The MPs highlighted India’s own experiences in confronting cross-border terrorism.
Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Eknath Shinde conveyed India’s “united” resolve to combat terrorism in “all its forms and manifestations” during an interaction with the Indian community in Liberia. Shinde, who led an all-party delegation for a three-day visit, reached the West African nation on May 31.
Pak delegations leave for US, Russia
A high-level Pakistani delegation, comprising three former foreign ministers, is travelling to the US as part of Islamabad's global diplomatic push to seek support following its recent conflict with India. The Pakistani delegation will be in the US around the same time a delegation led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is visiting Washignton. The nine-member delegation, led by Pakistan People's Party Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, include former foreign ministers Hina Rabbani Khar and Khurram Dastgir Khan. Another delegation, led by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Syed Tariq Fatemi, will visit Moscow from June 2.
