Over 7 crore devotees take holy dip at Maha Kumbh: Yogi
More than 30 lakh devotees took a holy dip in Sangam at Maha Kumbh On Thursday.
A 21-member delegation comprising representatives from 10 different countries also visited the kumbh. The international delegation includes representatives from Fiji, Finland, Guyana, Malaysia, Mauritius, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Tobago and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The delegation, invited by the External Publicity and Public Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of External Affairs, arrived today. Arrangements for the delegation’s stay have been made at the Tent City in Arail, developed by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, “So far, more than 7 crore devotees have got the privilege of taking a dip of faith in the holy Triveni in Maha Kumbh 2025, the great gathering of faith, unity and harmony, Prayagraj.”
Adityanath had also held a review meeting with the officials directing them to enhance measures for 8-10 crore devotees, who are expected to take a holy dip on ‘Mauni Amavasya’ on January 29.
After attending the kumbh, devotees from across the country and abroad are now flocking to other sacred sites in Uttar Pradesh. Since January 13, around 10 lakh devotees visited Ayodhya, 7.41 lakh paid their respects at the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, 5 lakh visited Vindhyavasini Dham in Vindhyachal and more than one lakh devotees visited Naimisharanya Dham in Sitapur.
According to the statistics by the Uttar Pradesh Government, over seven crore devotees have taken holy dip in Sangam at the Maha Kumbh.
Adityanath has instructed top officials to oversee the administration of key pilgrimage routes such as Dharmapath, Rampath and Bhaktipath, ensuring that people in need are provided shelter and support.
Meanwhile, bookings for flights to Prayagraj have skyrocketed. One-way ticket prices from Delhi to Prayagraj have risen by 21 per cent, reaching an average of Rs 13,478.
