With Maharashtra Assembly elections just weeks away, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday went on an inauguration blitzkrieg in the state, as he laid the foundation stone, inaugurated and dedicated to the nation various projects worth Rs 11,200 crore via video conferencing.

Modi urged people to bring the Mahayuti alliance government comprising Shiv Sena (Shinde), BJP and NCP (Ajit Pawar) back to power in the state “so that development work did not stop”.

Virtually seeking the Mahayuti coalition’s re-election in the state, Modi underscored the importance of development-driven governance in ensuring Maharashtra’s progress, emphasising that any disruption in this continuity would lead to significant losses for the state.

He said various projects, like the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train and critical irrigation projects for farmers, had been delayed before the “double-engine” government was formed in the state.

The PM inaugurated the Solapur airport and a section of the Pune Metro section, and also laid the foundation stone for a memorial for Savitribai Phule’s first girls’ school at Bhidewada. Modi said these projects would give a boost to urban development.
