PM Modi slams AAP, refers to party as 'aapda' for Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), referring to it as an "aapda" (disaster) that has gripped Delhi for the past decade.

Speaking at an event where he inaugurated several infrastructure projects, Modi criticised the AAP-led government, claiming its continued rule would further worsen the city's situation.

Modi accused the AAP-led government of widespread corruption in various sectors, ranging from education to pollution control and the liquor trade.

"On the one hand, the Centre is making significant efforts for Delhi's progress, while on the other, the Delhi government is mired in lies and corruption,” Modi said.

He pointed to the AAP government's alleged involvement in scandals related to liquor sales, school education, health care and recruitment.

Addressing the gathering, the PM said, "This year will bring a new politics focused on nation-building and the welfare of the people. Therefore, the "aapda" must be removed, and the BJP brought in."

Modi said that despite the Centre's efforts, including the launch of the Ayushman Bharat health scheme, the AAP had blocked these programmes in Delhi, preventing the benefits from reaching the residents.

"Some dishonest people pushed Delhi into this disaster. These people spoke of development but became an 'aapda' for Delhi," he added.

"They commit theft and then boast about it. This 'aapda' has struck Delhi and that is why the people have declared war against it," the PM said, adding, "The voters of Delhi have resolved to free the city from this disaster."
