PM Modi launches portal for unselected UPSC candidates
51K receive appointment letters for government jobs at latest ‘Rozgar Mela’
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced a new initiative, the Pratibha Setu Portal, to connect candidates who have cleared the final stages of the UPSC exams, but could not make it the final selection list with private and public sector opportunities. “Their hard work will not go in vain,” Modi said, adding that the portal would help in making the optimal use of youth’s talent.
Addressing the latest Rozgar Mela via videoconference, the PM said that this Diwali had brought “double joy” for thousands of Indian families, as over 51,000 young people received appointment letters for government jobs.
The PM added that the festival of lights had become brighter with these new opportunities for employment. Modi said these jobs were not just a means of personal achievement, but “a contribution towards nation-building”. He said this while urging them to uphold the spirit of ‘Nagarik Devo Bhava’ (Citizen is God) and serve people with dedication and integrity.
Highlighting the government’s employment drive, Modi said over 11 lakh appointment letters had been issued through job fairs in recent years. He added the newly launched PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana was aimed at providing jobs to 3.5 crore youth, while schemes like Skill India Mission and the National Career Service are equipping young Indians with training and connecting them with opportunities.
Citing the government’s economic reforms, the Prime Minister said the ongoing ‘GST Bachat Utsav’ has not only made consumer goods cheaper but is also fuelling job creation. “When goods become affordable, demand increases, leading to higher production, more logistics activity and new employment opportunities,” he said, pointing to record-breaking Diwali sales as evidence that the economy was gaining fresh momentum.
He also underlined the role of international partnerships in expanding youth employment. Modi said India’s new trade agreements, including the recent Free Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom, will open up avenues in areas such as AI, fintech and clean energy.
Similar investment pacts with countries like Brazil, Singapore, Korea, and Canada, he said, would support start-ups, MSMEs, and global projects for Indian youth.
Calling the newly appointed employees “karmayogis of a developed India”, the Prime Minister urged them to continue up-skilling through the government’s i-Got Karmayogi Bharat Platform, already used by 1.5 crore public servants. “It is through your efforts that India’s future will take shape and the dreams of its citizens will be realised,” he concluded.
