Firm or reactive? PM seeks public response post Operation Sindoor
With the ruling NDA marking 11 years in office, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a unique new online survey, asking people to assess his dispensation on 15 key indicators, including response to terrorism in the light of Operation Sindoor, public availability of local MPs and MLAs, the boldest perceived decadal reform, the most used digital good and people’s vision of India’s growth.
The Jan Man Survey, which can be taken through PM’s NaMo app, has already received over 5 lakh responses since launch on Monday.
It seeks answers to key questions on the PM’s governance model with plans to incorporate the feedback into government policy.
The first two questions are on India’s counter-terrorism approach as evidenced in Operation Sindoor after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and how secure people feel.
“How has India’s approach to counter-terrorism evolved in the last decade?” asks the survey giving four answers as options — Firm and proactive; strong and deterrent based; steady and cautious; reactive.
To a question — “Do you feel India is more respected globally today” — people can answer either of these four —Not at all; seldom; sometimes; often.
The survey asks people to tell which digital goods they used the most apart from what they see as the boldest reform since 2014 — graft-free government; ease of living; ease of business or infrastructure.
Other questions
Truly transformational reform? (GST, last-mile deliveries; National Education Policy; Financial inclusion)
Your vision of growth? (Sabha saath, sabka vikas; women-led development; Atmanirbhar Bharat; vocal for local; Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam or minimum government, maximum governance)
Your idea of women-led development? (greater safety; entrepreneurship; breaking barriers; women as leaders)
The PM has further asked people to tell how Make in India has impacted manufacturing. The answering options are — no visible growth; major growth; improvements; positive change.
The survey also seeks citizen responses on what they are the proudest about — revival of spiritual centres (Ram Mandir image accompanies the answer); recovery of stolen heritage; promotion of Indian culture globally or elevation of honour of armed forces.
An interesting question in the survey pertains to the performance of local MLAs and MPs.
It reads — “how would you assess the presence and responsiveness of your local and national representative in addressing public concerns in your area?”
The PM survey also asks people to evaluate his government’s progress towards Viksit Bharat as highly aligned with people; positive; moderate or limited.
With over 5,00,000 responses in 26 hours since launch, the survey, the government officials said, has emerged as a critical tool for engaging with the public in a direct way, ensuring their voices contribute to the nation’s development.
Uttar Pradesh is leading in response volume so far with 77 per cent respondents completing the full survey followed by Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Haryana.
