Rahul Gandhi is no ‘Pappu’, Sam Pitroda tells Indians in Texas
“Rahul Gandhi is not a ‘Pappu’”, Congress leader Sam Pitroda said while addressing the Indian community in Texas.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its supporters love to call Gandhi “Pappu” to portray the Congress leader, now the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, as someone who is unintelligent and lacks clarity of thought.
With Rahul Gandhi sitting by his side, Pitroda, in a meeting of the Indian community in the US, on Sunday said that Rahul Gandhi was having a vision contrary to what the BJP promoted and that prompted the saffron party to launch an attack directed against Gandhi.
“He (Rahul Gandhi) has a vision contrary to what the BJP promotes by spending crores of rupees. I must tell you, he is no ‘Pappu’. He is highly educated, well-read, a strategist with deep thinking on any subject and sometimes it is not very easy to understand him,” Pitroda said.
“Going to school in the early 1950s, Gandhian thoughts were the core of our learning. Inclusion and diversity were not just words, this is what we lived by, and when I begin to see changes in our society that attack the basic fabric, I worry about it. So, the idea is to make sure that we respect our people irrespective of their race, religion, language, or state. We create the same opportunities for everybody and provide dignity to labour, and these are the issues that Rahul Gandhi is championing and that makes me very happy,” Pitroda said.
Pitroda added that Rahul’s agenda was to celebrate diversity.
