New Delhi, January 20
As the purity rituals ahead of the Ram Temple consecration entered the fifth day, the sanctum sanctorum and the idol of Ram Lalla was cleaned with medicated water stored in 81 urns. Water collected from holy rivers of India and Nepal was also utilised in the cleansing ritual.
The idol of Ram Lalla was adorned with sugar and flowers sourced from different parts of the country. The ritual is known as ‘pushpadhivas’. Priests overseeing the rituals said cleansing took over three hours. The medicated water comprised extracts from fruits and ‘gaumutra’.
A representative of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Kshetra Trust said, “The rituals were carried out amidst vedic chants. Anil Mishra, a member of the trust and the ‘yajman’ (a patron on whose behalf a ritual is performed) of the pre-consecration ceremony, carried out the rituals.”
The inauguration event will feature an ensemble of classical instruments for which musicians from different parts of the country have been chosen. The instruments include bansuri from Uttar Pradesh, veena from Karnataka, pung from Manipur, tambura from Chhattisgarh, pakhawaj from Bihar, shehnai from Delhi, sundari from Maharashtra, santoor from Madhya Pradesh and ravanhatha from Rajasthan, shree khol and sarod artistes from West Bengal, sitar from Jharkhand, mridangam from Tamil Nadu, hudka from Uttarakhand and ghatam from Andhra Pradesh.
