Region in Parliament: No proposal for Metro project in Amritsar

The Centre has not received any proposal for Metro project in Amritsar from the state government, said Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in reply to a question posed by Congress MP Gurjeet Aujla during the Question Hour in the ongoing Lok Sabha session on Thursday. The NHAI has undertaken special work on Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, bypass and Ramdas, Una and the Beas-Batala-Dera Baba Nanak corridors from Amritsar.

PM Awas Yojana: 176 of 570 houses allotted in Punjab

As many as 176 of 570 houses sanctioned under the Affordable Housing in Partnership scheme of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban have been allotted to beneficiaries in Punjab, said MoS for Housing and Urban Affairs, Tokhan Sahu, in reply to a question by Congress MP Amrinder Singh Raja Warring. The MoS further said no new project was sanctioned under the In-situ Slum Redevelopment vertical (ISSR). Besides, Haryana has delivered 1,818 of 2,452 houses sanctioned under the ISSR, while HP has delivered all 64 out of 64 sanctioned houses.

No analysis of urbanisation’s impact on displaced farmers

This Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has not conducted any analysis to assess the impact of urbanisation on the displaced agricultural communities, said MoS Tokhan Sahu in reply to a question by SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal. However, she did not receive any reply to her question on whether the government was planning to adopt policies that preserve rural habitats for sustainability.

4-laning work on Batala-Dera Baba Nanak road to end by June 2025

Work on the 4-laning of road stretch from Batala to Dera Baba Nanak will be completed by June 22, 2025, said Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari in reply to a question by Congress MP Sukhjinder Randhawa. He added that 62 per cent of the work on the project had been completed.
