62 kg churma on Badoli’s b’day

Haryana BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli literally went overboard to promote the ‘vocal for local’ drive launched on PM Narendra Modi’s birthday. Badoli preferred a 62 kg desi ghee ‘churma’, a Haryanvi delicacy, to a cake on his 62nd birthday recently. Rooting for local ‘churma’, he, as expected, did not forget to thank Modiji for promoting swadeshi products.

Salary donation for ‘political cause’

During the recent Punjab Assembly session, a BJP leader noted that the two party MLAs donated their one month’s entire salary, about Rs 83,000 each, for flood relief. He was quick to point out that AAP and Congress MLAs donated just one month’s basic salary, around Rs 25,000 each.

For Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, sarcasm seems to be the sharpest weapon in his armoury. On Thursday, he took to X to “thank” the police for lodging what he termed “another fabricated FIR” at Gidderbaha. Not stopping there, he requested the DGP to decorate the officer concerned with a medal for his “exceptional achievements”.

DC order leaves teachers baffled

In Gurdaspur, the DC has instructed 400 teachers to keep a watch on farmers setting paddy residue on fire. Intriguingly, some teachers have been told to report stubble-burning cases where the floods had destroyed all paddy. Teachers are still figuring out how to ask farmers not to burn paddy residue when there is no paddy at all!

‘Lucky 17’ for CM Mann

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann was recently presented with an orange jersey bearing No. 17. Expressing delight, he said the number held special significance for him, as his birthday falls on October 17 and he also happens to be the 17th CM of Punjab.
