In a major push toward digitising passenger services, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday launched a comprehensive new mobile application, RailOne, aimed at streamlining and enhancing the passenger interface with Indian Railways.

The launch marked the 40th Foundation Day of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the tech backbone of Indian Railways.

According to the officials, the RailOne app is a unified, user-friendly platform that brings together a range of railway services under one roof, streamlining the passenger interface.

Available on both Android and iOS platforms, the app enables users to book unreserved and platform tickets — with a 3% discount — as well as access live train tracking, register grievances, order e-catering, book porters, and arrange last-mile taxis.

While reserved ticket bookings will continue to be managed via IRCTC, RailOne has been officially authorised as a partner application. It offers single sign-on functionality through mPIN or biometrics and is compatible with existing RailConnect and UTS credentials, eliminating the need to juggle multiple apps.

The Railway Minister urged the CRIS team to deepen the digital transformation of Indian Railways. He spotlighted the development of a next-generation Passenger Reservation System (PRS), expected to be completed by December 2025.

“The modern PRS will be agile, scalable, and inclusive — capable of managing 1.5 lakh bookings and 40 lakh enquiries per minute,” Vaishnaw said. He added that the system would include features like multilingual support, fare calendar and dedicated options for Divyangjan, students, and patients.
