Sahney in RS panel of Vice-Chairpersons
Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Vikramjit Singh Sahney was on Monday nominated to the panel of Vice-Chairpersons of the Rajya Sabha, a first for an MP from Punjab in a decade.
The announcement was made by Vice-President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar today.
Earlier, Kiran Choudhry from Haryana was included in this panel. As a member of the panel, Sahney will preside over debates in the House.
Thanking Dhankhar, Sahney said it was an honour to be entrusted this role. “Since becoming an MP, I have consistently advocated for the smooth functioning and enhanced productivity of the House. Now, as a part of the panel of Vice-Chairpersons, I am committed to ensuring maximum efficiency and meaningful discussions in this crucial session,” he said.
Earlier in November, Dhankhar incorporated Choudhry, S Phangnon Konyak, PT Usha, Mamata Mohanta, Ghanshyam Tiwari, Sasmit Patra, Ajay Makan and Bhubaneswar Kalita to the panel.
