Parliamentarians on Friday paid floral tributes to Sardar Hukum Singh, the first Sikh to be elected as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
Gathering in the Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan on Singh’s birth anniversary, the Lok Sabha Speaker led the tributes. Singh was an eminent parliamentarian, noted jurist, social reformer and able administrator. He was elected to the Constituent Assembly in April 1948 and was a member of the Provisional Parliament (1950-52) and the first, second and third Lok Sabha.
