SC Collegium recommends transfer of 4 CJs

The decision was taken by the Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India BR Gavai in a meeting held on May 26, the apex court announced on Wednesday.

Rajasthan High Court Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava, whose parent high court is Chhattisgarh, has been recommended to be transferred to the Madras High Court while Tripura High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, whose parent high court is Jharkhand, has been recommended for transfer to the Telangana High Court, a Collegium resolution stated.

Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice MS Ramachandra Rao (parent high court Telangana) has been recommended to be transferred to the Tripura High Court while Madras High Court Chief Justice KR Shriram (parent high court Bombay) has been recommended for transfer to the Rajasthan High Court.

The Collegium has also recommended transfer of Justice Tadakamalla Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court to the Madras High Court.

In a major shake-up in the higher judiciary, the Supreme Court in its May 26 meeting had recommended transfer of 21 judges of 10 high courts, including three judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

It had also recommended the names of Karnataka High Court Chief Justice NV Anjaria, Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Vijay Bishnoi and Justice Atul S Chandurkar of the Bombay High Court to be appointed as judges of the top court and recommended the names of five judges for appointment as new chief justices in the high courts of Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Gauhati, Patna and Jharkhand.
