The order through a notification signed by Joint Secretary C Senthil Rajan bars the film’s exhibition despite its clearance by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in November 2024.

The film, directed by Raj More, has been at the centre of controversy with right-wing groups alleging that it distorts the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The Maharashtra Government had earlier sought a re-examination of the CBFC’s certification.
