The Ministry of External Affairs announced on Saturday that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will be accompanied by the European Union College of Commissioners on an official visit to India.

This marks the first-ever visit of the EU College of Commissioners as a group to India and one of their first collective visits since the start of the current European Commission’s mandate in December 2024, following the European parliamentary elections in June 2024.

President von der Leyen’s visit follows the announcement of a new strategic agenda for EU-India relations. This will be her third visit to India, having previously visited for a bilateral meeting in April 2022 and to attend the G20 summit in September 2023. She and PM Modi have also met regularly on the sidelines of multilateral forums.
