A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said his workers would send Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to jail and win 2026 state polls, the BJP hit back saying the remarks signalled a "thief talking of guarding the house."

BJP national spokesperson Syed Zafar questioned Rahul's remarks saying the Congress leader is himself out on bail in a corrpution case.

"It is ironic for someone on bail to talk about sending a Chief Minister to jail. He has no right to threaten an elected CM. Just wait a little, Rahul Gandhi himself may end up in jail. He considers himself a King, but has been rejected thrice by the people.”

The BJP also alleged that Gandhi and his partners in "INDI bloc — RJD's Tejashwi Yadav and others are trying to spread anarchy by targeting the Election Commission's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Bihar."
