Top military brass briefs President Murmu on Operation Sindoor

Top military brass on Wednesday called on President Droupadi Murmu to brief her on the Operation Sindoor and its outcomes.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan said the delegation was led by Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan.

Chiefs of the three forces — General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, Chief of the Air Staff and Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff — accompanied him.

“The President commended the valour and the dedication of the Armed Forces that made India’s response to terrorism a sterling success,” said Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Operation Sindoor, aimed at destroying terror hubs in Pakistan, began on May 7 and was paused on May 10 after Pakistan approached India to cease hostilities.

Nine terror hubs in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan were struck by Indian military during the operation and hundred dreaded terrorists eliminated.

LeT and JeM headquarters at Muridke and Bahawalpur, which trained terrorists who perpetrated Pulwama among other terrorist strikes in India, were destroyed.

The operation is on pause, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said and any further terror act will be responses to as an act of war.

The operation was launched in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 tourists including one Nepali. The victims were killed based on their religious denomination and were all Hindus.
