Tri-services for double HRA in insurgency-hit areas
New Delhi, February 9
A tri-services organisation of three armed forces has made a fresh demand to the Ministry of Defence seeking parity with central armed police forces (CAPFs) in term of allowing double house rent when posted to non-family stations and terrorism-hit areas.
These stations are designated as ‘non-family’ stations, which means families have to be left behind in other cities; the official posted to these areas needs to pay for housing at two locations. The central armed police forces are getting double HRA.
The tri-service pay cell has made yet another representation to the MoD and this is the 13th representation seeking parity with central armed forces. The 7th Central Pay Commission had mentioned that forces should be given double HRA facility. The CAPF’s have been getting its since Jan 2016.
The MoD, in the past, turned down the demand saying the armed forces have different service conditions. The Ministry of Personnel okayed Grant of additional HRA to CAPF personnel posted in Kashmir Valley.
