US Senators, diaspora honour outgoing Indian envoy Taranjit Singh Sandhu
New Delhi, January 25
Prominent US lawmakers, members of the Indian diaspora, including the Sikh community, and businesspeople felicitated outgoing Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu in Washington.
Sandhu, who retires at the end of the month, is a graduate from JNU and this is his third stint in the US. No successor has been announced for the post. “India-US ties have deepened in intensity, matured in character and expanded in scope. They touch almost all spheres of human activity: tech, trade, defence, space, healthcare, education and skilling,” said Sandhu in his address at the farewell ceremony at India House. It was attended by senators Joe Manchin, Mark Warner, Amy Klobuchar and Jon Ossoff. White House senior adviser John Podesta presided over the event.
The Buddha Dal Sikh Organisation presented him with an award for his contribution to Sikhs and the legacy of his family.
