The Centre has assigned Vitul Kumar, a 1993-batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, to officiate charge as Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) upon superannuation of the incumbent Anish Dayal Singh on December 31.

According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Monday, Kumar, who is currently special DG in the CRPF, has been given the officiating charge till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

In September, the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) had appointed Kumar as special DG in the CRPF. He will retire on August 31, 2028.
