Water inflow at dams declines

The flow of water into Pong, Ranjit Sagar and Bhakra dams decreased on Friday.

The water level in Pong Dam stood at 1,392.46 feet, down from 1393.63 feet recorded a day ago. The inflow dropped from over 1.44 lakh cusecs to 61,371 cusecs, according to the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) data.

The water level had breached the danger mark of 1,390 feet at the dam on Tuesday. On Thursday, the dam recorded its highest ever outflow at 1.10 lakh cusecs.

At Ranjit Sagar Dam, the water level decreased from 526m to 525m, with the inflow reducing from 91,286 cusecs to 54,623 cusecs. The dam had crossed its maximum permissible level of 527.91m two days ago. Bhakra Dam also saw slight dip in water level, currently at 1671.71 feet, down from 1671.83 feet yesterday. The inflow reduced from 54,213 cusecs to 49,137 cusecs.
