West Bengal BJP chief and Rajya Sabha MP Samik Bhattacharya on Wednesday said a silent demographic invasion was underway in the state, where the government was openly inviting Rohingya and illegal Bangladeshi immigrants to settle.

Flagging the controversy involving the construction of Babri Masjid in Bengal, Bhattacharya said, “In the land of Vande Mataram, we now have a Babri Masjid being built.”

Participating in the debate on Vande Mataram, he said a silent demographic invasion was underway in West Bengal. “Demographic balance has been disturbed by infiltration. A government openly invites Rohingyas, illegal Bangladeshi immigrants into West Bengal. By creating a passage through West Bengal, the illegal immigrants have also altered the demographic balance of Bihar, Jharkhand, Seemanchal and Vananchal areas,” said Bhattacharya.
