The third round of auction for liquor zones on Friday failed to enthuse any response as no contractor participated in the online process in Yamunanagar district.
The Excise and Taxation Department, Yamunanagar, is yet to auction 45 zones of the total 55 in the district. In the second round, the department could allot only 10 zones for Rs 82.76 crore against the reserved price fixed for Rs 81.01 crore.
The fourth round of the auction will be held on June 9 for the remaining 45 zones (a zone consists of two liquor retail shops). The department has fixed the reserve price of Rs 403.76 crore for the 45 zones.
According to information, in the first round of auction held on May 31, only three zones could be alloted, but they were later cancelled due to some technical reasons. The second round was held on June 4. In this round, 10 zones were allotted to the contractors.
The third round of auction was conducted on June 6, but no contractor participated in the bid. Many reasons, including threat from miscreants for unwanted benefits, are being seen for zero participation contractors in the bid.
Alok Pasi, Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Yamunanagar said now the auction of the 45 zones would be done on June 9.
