Youngest female to conquer 7 summits
Kaamya Karthikeyan, Class XII student at Navy Children School, Mumbai, has become the youngest female in the world to scale the seven highest peaks across the seven continents.
The young student, who scaled the Everest this May, has now reached the summit of Mt Vincent/Vinson in Antarctica, along with her father, S Karthikeyan, who is a Commander in the Indian Navy.
She achieved the last milestone of this feat on December 24 to complete the ‘seven summits challenge’ — a coveted mountaineering challenge that sees climbers tackle the highest peaks located on each of the seven continents.
The Indian Navy congratulated Kaamya and her father on accomplishing this milestone. She has already climbed the highest peaks in the other six continents — Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa; Mt Elbrus in Europe; Mt Kosciuszko in Australia; Mt Aconcagua in South America; Mt Denali in North America; Mt Everest in Asia. The latest climb in Antarctica completed her list.
