A vendor meet was organised by Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW), a production unit of the Indian Railways, here on Tuesday during a vigilance awareness week. The purpose of this meet was to promote a meaningful and mutually beneficial interaction with vendors and to address their general grievances and also to apprise them about latest changes in the tender conditions, IRS condition and various quality issues related to locomotives.
This meet was attended by 80 industry partners of the PLW from different parts of the country and all four third party inspection (TPI) agencies of the Railways.
Rajesh Mohan, Principal Chief Administrative Officer, inaugurated the meet. In his address, he emphasised on the importance of ensuring quality and timely supply of materials. He encouraged all vendors to make sincere efforts toward indigenisation in line with the national vision of the Atmanirbhar Bharat. He also invited vendors to actively participate by sharing their innovative ideas and solutions through presentations in the upcoming vendor meets.
Sanjay Rastogi, Principal Chief Materials Manager, emphasised on the importance of physical vendor meets for fostering better communication and mutual confidence between the PLW and its business associates. He highlighted that such interactions were essential to achieving the shared objectives of the organisation and its partners.
Officers of the Materials Management Department and other user departments of the PLW gave detailed presentations on latest changes in the IRS condition, tender conditions, latest changes to developmental orders, advantage to Micro Small Enterprises (MSEs) and various quality related issues. Exhibition of items (imported and having limited vendors) was also held for drawing the attention of suppliers for their indigenous development.
