The slain chief of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), Harmeet Singh, alias Happy PhD, may have been killed due to an alleged love affair with a married Muslim woman, besides disputes over drug money, intelligence agencies have claimed.
Officials privy to the intelligence reports claimed that relatives of the woman had allegedly confronted Happy PhD over the illicit relations about three weeks ago. They had reportedly spotted Happy PhD and the woman in a hotel.
The relatives included a drug smuggler with whom Happy PhD had been dealing regularly for smuggling of drugs to Punjab. The officials said the smuggler and other relatives of the woman had also manhandled Happy PhD over the issue and warned him against meeting the woman again.
They said as per information received here, Happy PhD continued the relationship. The relatives of the woman then attacked him and shot at him.
The officials also said that no FIR had been lodged regarding the incident till date. They claimed that the Pakistan police were not registering a case, as that would confirm the fact that Happy PhD was operating from Pakistan.
Though Pakistan had been abetting terrorism in Punjab, it had never officially acknowledged the presence of Khalistani militants on their soil, they added.
