Twenty-eight CRPF men in Jammu and Kashmir tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
With 161 fresh cases, the total caseload has gone up to 4,507 and CoVID-19 related deaths 51.
A CRPF spokesperson said the 28 CRPF men, who tested positive for coronavirus, were the contacts of a deceased CoVID positive personnel who belonged 90th Battalion stationed in south Kashmir’s Kulgam District. “All of them are under quarantine and necessary guidelines set by MHA are being followed in the letter and spirit,” he said.
A CRPF man, 40, died at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Science (SKIMS) Soura on June 7.
He was admitted to SKIMS on June 4. He was suffering from pneumonia and had several co-morbidities.
He became the first CoVID-19 death of a paramilitary CRPF in Kashmir since the outbreak of the pandemic.
